Tanzania is one of the most stable countries in Africa. Governments and businesses will find the Mkinga Special economic zone as a favourable environment for conducting commercial activities. Asian, European, American, African and other international businesses are welcomed into the Park to engage in business operations. The Mkinga Park will serve as an ideal site for business headquarters and other operations and will provide free access to the emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East. All of the facilities and infrastructure for conducting international commercial activities will be available.
Potential markets for the Mkinga Park include:
• Emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East
• Regional Economic Communities
• National and local governments
• Private industries and businesses
• US and EU businesses with trade and investment interests in Africa
Almost all African countries participate in regional economic integration arrangements which focus on trade and investment issues. These include the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), the East African Community (EAC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). The Mkinga Park is a logical venue for these organizations to develop productive trade and investment partnerships with Asia, the Middle East and the rest of the world. Individual African governments which have raw materials and semifinished products will also be encouraged to use the Authority as a portal to Asian, Southern America,Northern America, Western and Middle Eastern markets Africa.
US and European business concerns which have relationships with Africa will find that a stable location in a neutral country has many advantages. They will be able to meet their partners in a secure environment; import materials from Africa; process them in the Mkinga Park and export finished products to other markets --- all with the incentives provided by the Park. (The US-based Corporate Council on Africa and its 200+ business members are prime targets for recruitment to locate in the Park.) Selected Asian and Middle Eastern businesses will also be targeted for membership in the Park. They will enjoy the same terms as the African, US and European members. The "New Partnership for Africa's Development" (NEPAD) , as the most powerful continent-wide economic organization in Africa, will be invited to establish a significant presence in the Park.
